Practical Scrappers Top 10!

It is such an honor to say that I made it into top 10 cards for the Practical Scrappers card contest! Thank you all who have voted for my cards and got me here!

This last round we were asked to create a thank you card that was mostly black and white and then add a punch of one additional color. We were also asked to add stitching of some form to the card.

I had a lot of fun with this one and challenged myself to try something different, so I learned how to do french knots :) I pulled together this pretty lil' card:

Here is a little bit better close up of the french knot detail. Instead of embroidery floss, I used twine from Amuse stamps, which gave it a little more texture than I anticipated, but I liked how it turned out:

There are some really good lookin' cards that the other ladies created for this round, so the voting is going to be close. Whether I make past this point or not, I am thrilled I got this far (especially since this is the first time I've ever done anything like this before).
So, please vote. You can choose 2 cards to vote for (hoping one will be mine, tee hee). The voting closes at midnight (EST) on Wednesday, 2/27.

Thank you all for stopping by!

Practical Scrappers Sweet 16 Card Contest

I am thrilled to announce that I made it into the third round for the Practical Scrappers Card Contest!

Thank you, again, for all of those who voted for my card last week to get me into the next round!

We were given a challenge to make a masculine card based on a picture that was sent to us. The picture was a quilt that had lots of blues, greens and whites with mixed patterns. I have to admit this was a nice challenge for me, but I'm happy with where the challenge took me.

This is the card I finally decided to use:
I raided my paper stash and found these lovely pieces that went so well together. I used one of my favorite stamp sets from Papertrey Ink, Star Prints, and broke out the good ol' sewing machine to get that homespun, stitched look :) I'm very happy how it turned out!

But, it was hard to decide because I also made this card based on the color scheme:
I loved the embossed "quilted" feel that the Spellbinders' impression folder gave to the green cardstock. And, the adorable stamp is another Papertrey set from another one of my favorite collections, Everyday Button Bits. Even though this isn't the card I chose to use in the contest, I now have another one to add to my "boy" card stash :)

The contest was narrowed down to 16 participates now, but 6 will be eliminated in this next round so there are only 10 participants left. SOOOO...please visit the Practical Scrappers page and cast your vote :) I believe in this round you can cast your vote for up to 3 different people, but I think you are still only able to vote once.

I hope that you have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend.
Thanks again for all your support!

Practical Scrappers: Top 20 Card Contest!

Good morning!

I'm super excited to announce that I've made it into the top 20 cards for a card contest hosted by Practical Scrappers.

The first round of voting ended last Wednesday for the Valentines/Love themed cards. This was the card I submitted for voting:

After a lot of support in votes, I qualified for the second round (narrowed down to 20 participants)! For the second round, we were asked to create a birthday card with polka dots (one of my favorites...eeek) so this is the card I submitted for voting this round (isn't that adorable Flirty Anya Stamp from Greeting Farm so stinkin' cute?):

So, here is my shameless plug: please vote :) Visit the Practical Scrappers blog post this week.

Only 15 participants will move on. And note that you can vote for more than one card (there are a lot of really talented ladies participating in this), but I think you can only vote once. So make sure you've chosen all that you want to vote for before you submit your vote!  Voting closes on Wednesday, February 13th at 11:59pm EST.

Thank you for stopping by to visit...until next time...

Mojo Monday 279 Contest and Farm Fresh Friday!

This sweet little card was inspired by the Farm Fresh Friday challenge using ribbon and/or lace. I followed the Mojo Monday #279 sketch challenge, but added a few extra elements to really make it shine.

Products used: Cocoa and Colonial White cardstock, and the cricuit cartridge for the scalloped circle is from Close to My Heart. Terracotta Tile cardstock from Papertrey Ink. The glitter paper is from DCWV. I embossed one little square of the Terracotta Tile paper with the Square Lattice embossing folder from Stampin' Up, then stamped the other strip (the banner) with an old, but trusty, polka dot stamp from Stampin' Up.  The adorable Flirty Anya stamp set is from the Greeting Farm, but the sentiment stamp is from the Star Prints stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I colored Flirty Anya with my copics to match :) The lace trim is from Making Memories.

Here is the sketch I used from Mojo Monday:
