Hello! It's been a while since my last post - the holidays always seem to get busier every year and there seems to be a competition for time when it comes to blogging - and it seldom wins, argh. But, I'm glad to be back to share a couple cards I've made for two challenges that have teamed up for the next couple weeks: The Paper Girls Challenge blog "Sparkle and Shine" challenge and the Double Trouble Paper Crafting "Love is in the air" challenge. Having both challenge blogs play together was double incentive to get crafty!
Here are the cards that I made:
First, my daughter's birthday is coming up and so the combo challenge was perfect to put together this sweet little card for her. This adorable stamp set from My Favorite Things, called Adorable Elephants by Birdie Brown, was perfect for the job. With the adorable balloons, one being heart shaped, and the sweet butterfly, it played into the "love is in the air" theme beautifully. The cake stamp is from the Birthday Bears stamp set, also by Birdie Brown, just to add an extra birthday feel to the card.
I used Blueprints 27 from My Favorite things to set the stage for the details, but dressed up the white pieces and the cake with a little extra fine glitter. It's hard to capture these details in the main picture, but with a close up you can see it better. The glitter and the pink glitter gems added just the right amount of sparkle to the card to make it shine.
My second card didn't photograph very well, but I really love how it turned out. I used a green glitter paper as the primary paper on this card and it is beautiful in person (I really wish I could figure out how to capture it better on camera). The adorable bear image is a from a stamp set called "OWH Lil Hoot" from Hero Crafts, and I cut it out to pop it up on a patterned paper that also has a bit of added glitter details on a few of the designs. I finished it over with some sweet glittery purple hearts and matching thin glitter washi tape.
If you're as inspired as I was by the challenges, please be sure to check out both blogs to link your projects:
