Wonderful Things - GIU #3

Hello, happy Wednesday!

Thanks for stopping by for day 3 of my Growing in Unity week!

Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win! Two lucky people will win 25 Unity Stamps at the end of my week, so be sure to come back each day to visit and leave a comment.

I won a grab bag of Unity Stamps earlier this year and this beautiful fairy image was included. I've been waiting for the opportunity to ink her up and get her in a project!

This simple card was so much fun to make. I made the background by using a similar technique from my GIU #2 post yesterday, but instead of using a paint brush to add the ink to the paper, I just laid the paper directly onto the spritzed, inky craft mat and let the paper absorb the color mess. The results were perfect for this fairy...almost a magical feel :)

Instead of masking the fairy, this time I used my watercolor pencils to color her in. I applied a white base to the entire image, then slowly added additional colors on top. I left the dress white because it looked so pretty against the background.

I distressed the paper a bit and added a lovely sentiment from the "empowered words" set, then glued it all together.

Thanks for coming by to visit again!
Brittany

  2. Fabulous colors in your background! When I first started reading your post yesterday, I thought the background paper was laid down on your palette as it was today (then I read the rest & saw you brushed it on). So now I know I will try it both ways. Your card is gorgeous!
