Growing In Unity - Day 3

Hello, and happy Wednesday! I hope that you all had a wonderful Independence Day, yesterday. I have to admit I'm a bit sleepy from celebrating with my family late into the night, but it is all worth it.

This is my third day for my Growing In Unity week. At the end of this week I get to select 2 people randomly from my comments to win a 25 stamp grab bag from Unity...and it's not too late to visit my previous posts to leave a comment if you haven't visited yet, so don't forget:
Day 1
Day 2

My project today was a crafty experiment that actually went right, ha ha! I don't know about you, but I have several projects that just don't turn out like I hoped they would, but I was super happy with the result from this one.

I wanted to see how my watercolors would work directly on vellum - and surprisingly, they worked pretty well. I first stamped this adorable butterfly filled heart image and sentiment from the Start Again Kit of the Month and heat embossed it with glittery black embossing powder because I wanted it to shimmer. Then I selected three colors and carefully painted in a couple random butterflies to make them pop. I then watercolored a white sheet of paper with coorinating colors in the shape of the heart for the embossed vellum sheet to overlay.

I was surprised that the watercolor ink dried and stuck to the vellum like it did, and it dried beautifully. Of course the embossed image made it simple to stay in the lines too - which is a win too :)

And before I forget - please don't forget to stop by Edelmira Rivera's blog this week too, she's a new Growing in  Unity gal and has some amazing projects to share as well - AND is also offering a chance to win too!

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to leave a comment to have a chance to win!
Cheers!
Brittany
