Unity Winner Winner!

Good morning!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! I want to extend a huge THANK YOU for all the wonderful comments you left each day on my blog last week, it really made my days extra special! I couldn't pass the opportunity to post one more project - so this thank you note is for you!

I used Unity's Butterflies and Sunbeams (August 2015's Sentiment Kit) for this card, the butterflies are cut out and popped up with foam tape for added flair. I might have gotten a bit carried away with my Mr. Huey's Manila mist, but it grew on me as I created the card.

OKAY - so, for the main reason you came to the blog this morning :) I have winners to announce from those who commented on my blog last week while I was the Growing In Unity gal!!! I used Random.org to help me out.

First draw was comments on my Friday post (my 5th day):
Out of 14 people who left comments:
 Gaylynn is our first winner!!!

The next pull was Tuesday (my 2nd day):

Out of 21 people who left comments:
Cynthia is my next winner!!!!

Ladies, please e-mail me at mitnese@gmail.com and give me your mailing details and I'll connect with Unity to send off your prize! Congratulations!!!!!!!!

Thank you all, again, I hope that you'll continue to come back to visit my blog often.

Have a great week!

Growing In Unity - Day 5

Today I'm wrapping up my Growing In Unity week - I'm SO grateful I was able share my Unity projects with you! I have really enjoyed reading all of your very kind comments as well, each one has made my day that much brighter.

So, to conclude the week, I wanted to share a project I made with one of my favorite Phyllis Harris stamps (which is hard to say considering I love each and everyone one of her stamps). But, the Let Beauty Surround You set always reminds me of Easter (it has to be the bunny and the tenderness of the little girl), and with Easter this weekend, it was a perfect opportunity to water color this sweet image and get it on a card.

I was 100% inspired by Lisa Arana's blog and her Assemble This! Sketch No. 2. I find her blog very inspiring and her videos are great too (thanks Lisa)! All the papers are from Close to My Heart (the patterned papers are from the Sarita collection). To water color - I used my dye inks again, water and paint brushes - this has been my new favorite way to color just about everything!

Thanks again for a wonderfully fun and rewarding week! Please don't forget to comment on all 5 of my posts by this Sunday night - I'll be announcing the 2 random winners here on my blog on Monday, 3/28!

Have a wonderful Easter!

Growing In Unity - Day 4

I'm feeling the love with all the lovely comments you have been sharing with me the last couple days on my blog! I'm so glad that I've had this chance to be the Growing In Unity gal this week, it has been a lot of fun.

I have several co-workers and friends that are having babies this year, so it seemed appropriate to share one of the cards I made using the Hello Little One set - the little critters are SO adorable!

I used the Say Cheese Lawn cuts die from Fawn Lawn to cut the frame to my shaker window and added some glass beads I've been collecting over the years. I embossed the background of the shaker using an embossing folder form Echo Park.

I sanded down the textured card base so it looked a little distressed - more "boyish". I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

Well - I have one more day left to share projects, so I really hope that you'll come back tomorrow to see my last one! I'm really excited to draw 2 winners from my comments at the end of the week - I'll announce the winners on Monday morning, 4/4.

Have a great day!

Growing In Unity - Day 3

Hello, happy Wednesday!

Thanks for stopping by for day 3 of my Growing in Unity week and for the last two days of wonderful comments!

Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win! Two lucky people will win 25 Unity Stamps at the end of my week, so be sure to come back each day to visit and leave a comment.

This stamp set, Naturally You, was the first Unity stamp set I ever purchased, and I must admit it has received a LOT of love over the years. This turtle is probably one of my favorite images - it mixes so well with so many sentiments, babies, get well, etc., etc. I tend to reach for this set time and time again - as well as many other Unity sets :)

I colored this image by using my dye inks as a watercolor since I didn't seem to have the right shades of markers or pencils to match this paper - and I'm very impressed with how vibrant the color turned out! I'll certainly use that technique again - it's so frugal!

The papers are all from Close to My Heart - the patterned papers are from the retired Hopscotch collection, I'm in love with the color palette in this collection. It just screams "fun" to me.

Thanks again for stopping by! I have a couple more projects to share tomorrow and Friday - so I hope you'll come back to visit and leave a comment for a chance to win!

Have a great day!

Growing In Unity - Day 2

Hello again!

Thanks for visiting again for day 2 of my week of Growing In Unity!

I absolutely love this giant butterfly from the Thanks above and Beyond stamp set, and his little body is just big enough to add a splinter of foam tape to create layers. This beautiful guy just pops off the card!

You can see I added three layers by this angle and the foam tape lifts the layers just enough to make it pop. I really love adding dimension to my projects when I can - I have those giant Scotch foam mounting tape rolls in my wish list on Amazon and surprise myself each time I need to re-order them.  I colored the butterfly with my watercolor pencils and took a damp brush to lightly fade the color.

All the papers I used are Close to My Heart cardstock, the splattered ink is from Mister Huey's, and the twine is something I picked up in the dollar bins at Target (I love that store).

Thanks for stopping by again! Please don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win! I get to randomly select 2 folks to win 25 Unity Stamps at the end of my week, so be sure to come back every day.

Have a great Tuesday!

PGCB #100 and Growing in Unity

Hello!!!

Today is a very exciting day for me on my blog - not only am I a part of the 100th blog post celebration for the Paper Girls Challenge Blog, but it is also my first day as a Growing in Unity girl with Unity Stamp Co.!

I decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to combine one of my favorite stamp sets from Unity, Books a Flutter, with a beautiful sketch from ScrapbookSteals.com's Mojo Monday sketch challenges. I am using Lily 6 - Red sketch to highlight four of my amazing friends that I get to craft with time after time. Just like good books, good friendships have no ending.

I used my ink pads like a watercolor base to paint my stamped images, and then separated on of the images to give a few additional embellishments on my page.

I also used my Cricut to diecut a few decorative shapes, like the 3x4 journal card that I was able to layer different colored paper underneath, and the scalloped circle. I believe all the shapes are from the Close to My Heart cartridges - as is this beautiful paper pack, Hopscotch, that I used to draw colors from.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Please take some time to leave a comment and stop by my blog each day this week for a chance to win 25 random stamps from Unity! I look forward to hearing what you have to say :)

ALSO - if you're feeling crafty yourself, take a few minutes to stop by the Paper Girls challenge blog and submit a project using our theme this week - its one extra chance to win a special prize from our amazing sponsor - ScrapbookSteals.com for playing along! You have until April 2nd to link up your project!

Have a great day!
